1. Welcome Sunday! Please tell us a bit about yourself:

2. How and when did you start scrapbooking?

I started scrapbooking a bit back in college when one of my roommates introduced me to Creative Memories. She had a bunch of supplies so we would all sit up at night & make super silly albums of our pix with tons of stickers & markers. It was a blast.

3. What are your favorite subjects to scrap about?

My fav scrappin’ subjects are: Halloween, school, vacations & daily life of all 5 of us, from the kids’ sports to them playing outside with water balloons. We are a very active family, always moving & groovin’ to something, so I always have a ton of stuff to take pictures of.

4. What is your favorite type of mini album to create?

I love to make all kinds of mini albums, sometimes with designs that are really far out there & sometimes more normal. I made one recently out of cereal boxes that is really fun & I have others out of brown paper bags or circle shapes that I love just as much. I will try anything, especially different shaped albums with different size photos. I don’t do much chronologically, I just pick an event & do an album for it.

5. Do you have a lot of mini albums? How do you store/ display them?

I have a whole bunch of minis that I have sitting in a wicker basket in my dining room. I put a few albums out at different times of the year on my big square table. Right now I have 3 Halloween albums out with my Halloween decorations. Everyone enjoys going through all of them, especially the kids. They laugh & laugh when they see themselves so young & read the funny things I have written.

6. What are your top 5 favorite items to use when scrapbooking?

My favorite items list is long, but 5 things I love besides the must have tools are: index and library cards, glitter stars, rhinestones of all sizes, stickers & my letter stamps. I could easily add 5 more.

7. What is the most unusual item you’ve used in your scrapbooks?

Most unusual item I have used is probably those cereal boxes. I didn’t cover them up with paper & use them as cardboard for a book cover, but I used them as they are as pages in a book – Lucky Charms, Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, Cookie Crisp, etc. The bright colors of the boxes & the shapes I cut them to were so fun for a simple album about each one of us in my family. It just screams all of our personalities. I also use denim in projects – never throw out your old jeans!

8. What is your favorite technique when making mini albums?

Fav technique is using ink or paint around the edges of pages or around the photos themselves. The paint color choices are huge; it adds color & some texture to the pages.

9. How would you describe your scrapbooking style?

My scrapbook style is very fun & spunky. I like to add things to my pages that show who we are. When I buy scrapbook supplies, I buy a few of the coordinating pieces in a line, but then I also add other things I have in my stash that make the art more about us. I like when things that don’t coordinate actually work together. Nothing too serious over here.

10. Do you have any other hobbies besides scrapbooking?

Besides scrapbooking, I love to ride my beach cruiser, play on my iPhone, play outside with the kids, play on my Mac or really do anything crafty – from a teacher gift, to tie dying, making a blanket, designing my blog – I have a million ideas to create & not enough time to do it all!
